If you have a roller cam block that uses a retainer plate, the right cam for that block will have a stepped nose on it to fit the smaller diameter of the retainer plate.

You can use a roller cam w/o the retainer plate by using a
cam button.
The cam bearings and cam bearing journals use motor oil or bearing assembly lube.
