The timing gear will keep everything in line till it is worn to the point of the cam starting to walk on mild builds! You can install a cam snubber to control cam thrust if your worried about it! or a timing cover with a snubber built in! Wezz I'm not familiar with all the late small blocks Ive only worked on a couple so wait for Cobalt or Vinnie, or Bogie or Fbird ETC. I could google it and cut and paste but I don't trust the internet LOL I use particular timing gears ,but don't know which are the best for your application, ( like timing cover interference, cam walk with certain timing sets , Etc.) Or what you may run into on your end! if it was in my shop I could check on the spot and do my adjustments! These other guys have already run the gambit on what they may run into and can head it off before you need to ask the Question! I'll be on the side lines LOL till I can jump in!
Is this the timing chain set you have? Edelbrock #7800 - Performer-Link Timing Chain
