He flipped it at Famoso Goodguys meet in November, tore it up pretty good, snapped an axle where the spindle mounts, ran against the guardrail long enuff to slow it down, flipped it over. Rich is going to fix it. Larry had his bell rung. I've got some pics, I'll have to get them developed. Dan

Malc,

Thanks for sharing the art and the link. That car was one of them that planted the car bug in me years ago. Never saw it run but had the photos to drool over.

Thanks again.

There was one of these that the cage was so big that the driver drove it with one hand because he had to use the other to keep from sliding from side to side. If you see the old pictures his hand can clearly be seen holding on!

That was The Winged Express http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/thehistoryof/60339/
for some reason I just missed it in the NHRA museum display at Pomona last year.
I got a pic of it right now in Illustrator ready to go.

Pure Hell

Funny what sticks in your mind- musta been about '65, I was a kid at the drags in Puyallup (Thun Field)-(Gone now)-Pure Hell was racing and they broke something and needed to weld it back together, so they announced over the PA that "Pure Hell needs some welding rod. If you have any welding rod, please send it to Pure Hell." It made me chuckle, anyway.
