purging fluid from my th350
I fill the trans and it dosn't leak a drop. I can drive it up the road and back with no leaking and perfect shifting. When I pull it in the shop and turn it off it will purge the tranny fluid from around the pan gasket. Its like its building pressure or something. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem although my leak was not anywhere near as bad. Seemed the trans would only leak after I parked it. This past winter, in the process of replacing the flexplate and TQ, I had the trans on a stand and was replacing seals and a couple bushings when I found the dipstick o-ring had deteriorated. Replaced that and presto no fluid leaks. The level of fluid in the trans sits just below this seal when running, but when the engine is off, the fluid level rises above the seal, causing a leak in my situation.
Also, check for a plugged vent. |
