im looking at getting some purple hornies header mufflers to put on my camaro, sound and performance wise, how do they rate with yall? are the a good buy?
thanks for the info yall!!
I thought those were for jeeps? I am sure you can use them though. I saw that Cherry Bomb is making a similar header muffler now. I am not sure what the purple hornies sound like but I am sure they are loud.
Dude, the long Cherry Bombs are it. I'm going to get some just because. Check 'em out first. Usually when I'm thinking, I hear myself, just not as much as others do.
I had some on my nova when i first did the swap on my car. They got annoying real fast. when i switched to the super 40's and an x pipe there was a noticeable difference in power and i could finally hear my radio.
If you're after performance with a glass pack look for the design without louvers. Thrush makes a good one that doesn't have the internal louvers like Cherry Bomb and others. Thrush has a perforated core and is consistant in diameter from front to back for the best flow. The louvers restrict flow. Flowmaster's don't flow anywhere close to a good glass pack.
thanks for the info guys...my only question is, with the floorpan on the secondgeneration camaros like mine, will the long cherrybombs fit? because i plan to run pipes either out in front of the rear wheels or out the back in stock location and i know that true duals have to be ran very carefully so they dont scrape when going over speedbumps and such.
on my sons 74 Camaro we just put a 400SBC in, we came off the headers with 3" pipe and stuck a race muffler on towards the end and run it back next to the rearend center and turned it to the side and down. its loud and sounds good.
