Purple Hornies

Whats up guys, do any of you have any idea what these mufflers sound like? im gonna bolt them onto my SBC in my 79 malibu (straight to the headers of course) then have a turn down facing at a 45 degree angle towards the outside of the car (but not visible without getting on the ground) anyways back to my question have yall heard these and do you think this would sound good? oh yea one other thing interior resonance is not an issue

I dont have purple hornies on my car but I do have glasspacks. Mine are true duals straight from the exhaust manifold and they sound pretty nice. They are not annoyingly loud and you dont hear them to much inside unless you step on the gas then you can hear them pretty good. If you want a sound clip of mine just send me a pm.

I had a set on my 55 and found them too loud! I replaced them with a set of dynomax mufflers and found the the car performed better. I would not recommend them.

It's all personal preference, glasspacks are usually a little louder than turbo-style mufflers. I had a set on my pickup, I liked them, they are cheap, and they last along time before rusting out!

im running them on my 79 camaro just like you have yours and they are loud as heck and i like it. they have a great tone to them. They will get attention so watch your foot around the cops. they glare at me alot but have yet to pull me over for them. One sheriff said my car sounded nice when i got pulled for speeding. If you like loud you will like them.

Like I said, they are loud. As far as performance is concerned, there are better mufflers around!

Not to start a argument, most straight-through design mufflers will outflow the turbo-type which should give the straight-through design a performance edge! Although they didn't flow test "purple hornies" this link has some interesting information on the subject! www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0383
