That steering wheel would look really out of place inside a car that otherwise has parts from 1969 in it.
I would keep the stock one, it looks cooler. |

I think it would be easier to change the whole column. The most critical element would be to install the clock spring at a perfect 90 deg to the column.

Well, I now know you can't put an airbag in a car that never came with an air bag LOL
I may go with the "ricer" steering wheels I have seen on some of the honda boys cars lately- reall nice looking, buttons for cruise control and N20, and good grip for autocrossing. Now I just have to find out who supplies those things! There are really three things I think the ricer movement has given us 1) cool seats 2) cool steering wheels 3) a whole new look at rim sizes. |

Oh, I meant GOOD things LOL
I think the seats of every brand have tried to givve more lateral support and allow the harness to pass through them- and expanded the market, instead of just a couple of suppliers, there are LOTS |

A little off the subjet..... I work in an electrical shop. A F350 came in with some burned wiring. I had the dash out doing repairs,I was putting it back together. I reachined in with may face not more than 3 inches from the steering wheel. Whe I turned the key to cheack to see if things were working. The airbag deployed instantly!! I thought I was dead! I was so close to the wheel that the flap on the center of the wheel smacked me across the face leaving a bloody burn down the center of my face.I couldnt hear anything but ringing. It really sucked bad! What caused the deployment was that the airbag connecter @ the base of the column wasnt marked with the traditional yellow. I got the shift interlock and airback conectors crossed up. soon as key was on boom
. It was a simple mistake that almost killed me. Airbags are dangerouse!

I wanted steering wheel stereo controls and tilt for my S-10 so I installed a column and wheel from a ’95 Firebird. The Firebird wheel has an air bag that has been disabled and future plans call for building a new centerpiece to replace the air bag. The stereo controls work great, they are wired through an adapter from a company called PAC.
