putting on a new full vinyl top??
Has anyone got some fail proof advise for putting on a full vinyl top on my roadrunner? Im going to attempt this myself because the local upholstery places around where I live like to rip people off....im very tired of people taking advantage of car people like myself...anyways Im very nervous...dont want to @#$% it up.

Never did it myself but i know it can be done like the pros . Get the 3M vynle top adhesive in a spray can , Spray is easier to use then the quart can and a brush. I would spray about a 12 inch wide strip in the middle coating roof and material. Stick it down pull it up and flash it just a few minutes then rub it down real good. Then work your way out on both sides. One thing is dont get cheap on the glue and you should come out fine .
I used these products back in the 70's and 80's to do vans. You will need a well ventilated area this stuff is very potent in its vapors , or better yet wear a good mask to work with it. |
