Putting sbc in my 91 S15, and was wondering if there is a close trans *ex,th350,700r,th400, out there that is close to fitting with out having my drive shaft cut? Mild SBC 400hp maybe at most. 3000+ stall.

i put a turbo 350 in mine at first same shaft 85 s10 short bed. but the 373 gears made me drive on the highway at about 3500-4000 rpm went to a 700r4 had to shorten the shaft and remake crossmember to keep pinion angle correct. running about 500hp broke the 700 9 times before i got it right. but found an link in hot rod magazine on how to make one that can handle hp. worked great for 2 years. but now have dana rear from corvette with 308 gears and am getting ready to go back to 350 or maby 4 speed stick.

V8 and TH-350 fits here with no mods the crossmember or driveshaft. 200R4 will fit the driveshaft but will require the crossmember moved back as the mount location is farther back on the case than a TH-350.

So in my 91 the sbc and a th350 will drop in no problem? No shorting of shaft? I just want most everything ready before I drop one weekend then have to wait a week to get my drive shaft. I won't be pushing over 400hp for sure just a cruiser....

a th350 will fit in with no driveshaft mods if its the 9 inch long tailshaft version. if you have the more common 6 inch long tailshaft your driveshaft will be 3 inches too short. it will not for 100% bolt in for the crossmember.
a 700r4 will be a 100% bolt in as far as the driveshaft and crossmember is concerned
