Quadrajet geometry correcting plate for 700r4?
Ok I am sorry if I am beating a dead horse. I am having issues with my cable setup. I am running a 454 w 700r4 and the carb is a quadrajet my issue is the stupid geometry plate that attaches to the carb. I know they make aftermarket ones for holley, edelbrock, carter but yet to have seen one for a quad. Can someone help me please, I am so close to being able to drive the car in and out of the garage so i can start doing bodywork. Any input would be great! If someone knows how to fab one Ill pay to have one made lol. I know how important the tv cable is so I know not to drive it until all this is taken care of.:pain:

Is your quadrajet a manual or automatic tranny carb?
Auto tranny one has the bracket already on it. |
It's an automatic but it does not have the geometry plate for the tv cable

I do not know where to begin with that diagram. I am sorry for my ignorance...

Search 'Google Images" for quadrajet tv cable and pick your poison.

Thanks for some help I am actually away from the vehicle and cannot take a pick of my linkage so when I get back ill take a pic and post it it to thread. Those pictures on that site are good but the one picture shows the tv cable hooked to a hole in carb exactly opposite of the return spring hole. If I remember correctly I don't have that same provision for the cable just the return spring hole.

THen you must have a manual tranny quadrajet!
Excellent link Crosley!! |
Then it must be!!! Motor came from automatic truck! Just asking for help. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has asked or been curious.

The later style quadrajets that were behind 700r transmissions are a good source. I swapped out the shaft of a 87 monte 2004r carb in my 77. It is a pain but it was less taxing on the brain.

In some cases (on later model carbs), the baseplates can be swapped out- but you have to watch out for a few things, mainly that the gaskets are identical and that the idle air bypass orifices are similar. The bypass sizes aren't a big deal, they can be resized as needed.

Thank you all for all your help!! I had a donor carb which is an auto so I'm going to attempt to just swap shafts because it has the linkage I need. Any precautions? Thanks again.

If it is not off a car with a 2004r or 700r4 trans, it won't work the geometry is diffrent
