Quarter panel installation?

Hi, I searched and am really sorry if this has been posted but I just don't understand. I am planning on installing a quarter on my '76 nova and am not sure but is a quarter skin really only just that, a skin? because my pass side is rusted, Bad, and I don't think I really just want to weld something over the top of that do I? If I did wouldn't the rust just come right through? Would it even look right or would there always be a line showing? Again sorry if this was posted before.- Alex

a couple of pic's are worth a 1,000 words just for the "idea"????

the skin is a all new qtr including the weld points "except" for the metal above the qtr top at the trunk rim....
(not shown is the door jam weld points which are included)

fair to good chance you will need new outer wheel housings and trunk drop off inner panels which are relatively inexpensive...

I took the cut out "before" pic before all the exposed metal was prepped.....

we do panel bond (dark grey) the exposed overlap top line for no welding distortion and use filler on the trunk inside as well for "invisible" repair ...

qtr replacement article from the "Knowledge Base" link (check it out!) at the top of this page:
