Question On 300 Six Build

Hey guys I no this has been a topic several times but I am having a hard time finding the info I need. I am Building a some what of a budget Ford 300 straight six I am wanting to get the most horsepower and torq with out going out and buying an aluminum head. I was gonna see what you guys thought about putting a 240 head with alot of port and polishing work. I plan on puting a aluminum intake and headers. Prolly bore it out and buy some 390 fe pistons with some double walled hardend push rods. Im not shure what cam yet. The engine is going into 1986 short bed ford 4x4 4 speed so i dont want to make all my power at a real high rpm. I have heard about puting 350 chevy valves in the 240 head has anyone heard of this and what the advantages are? If any of you guys have any Ideas I would really appreciate it Thanks
