question on 305 heads
Does anyone know if the 305/350 heads made from 80-84 are thin castings or heavy duty castings? Head number 14014416 to be exact. I know they are 58cc with 1.84/1.50 valves, but that is about it. Thanks for any info you can provide!

I don`t think they made a heavy casting 305 head, and yes the 80`s were when chevy took a chunk of meat out of the castings, but they started this as early as 73 with the 882 casting.

I had one set of 305 heads that were heavy castings, don't remember the #'s but they were off a 1976 305 and had the smaller 1.72/1.50 valves.

416's are lite castings, anything gm after 78 is lite castings.
