Question about 350

Are all 350's cast the same. I have a 78 corvette with a tired motor, I want to put another motor in while I rebuild the original one. Will any 350 fit?

Yes, but check if the new block has a provision for the clutch ball stud, if it is standard shift.

One other thing, later blocks have roller cams and are not direct bolt ins if you are looking to use parts from the '78.

There are differences in 350 engines. After 85,they had a one piece rear main seal, which is a huge plus at preventing oil leaks that are so common there.Dimesion wise, they are the same though. Also depending on the era 350 you get,you can get some horrible flowing smog heads. Also the LT1 and up blocks are completly different, that was the beginning of a new dawn for Chevy SBC as we know them.Anything up until92 is the same, with the exception of the 86 up blocks, which have the one piece, plus the dipstick for the oil has been relocated to the passengers side.
