question about a 51 chevy 4 door chop.

hi,
I have a 51 chevy deluxe 4 door and I want to weld the back doors up and make it a coupe and chop yhe top.
my question is can I completley remove the post on this car?
I really like the look of the choped shoeboxes etc. with no post.
thanks,

Please post a picture of either your car or one like it. A side view would be best.

I can see no reason what so ever why you couldn't. The frame is the same between the hard top and sedan, the rockers are the same as I remember, I say cut away.

Of course the hard part is what to do with the post?

I am not sure what you mean about removing the post, the bottom section would have to stay. How you could cap it off while welding the door in would be the problem. How do you plan on putting in a window? That has to be thought about before you cut the thing up. If you want to make a semi "sun car" out of it with no side glass at all, cool, that is easy. But making glass in the doors that will go up and down, and making some sort of quarter window, that is a BUNCH of stuff that is MUCH harder than the shop and cutting the post out.
