Jackflash,
The first question would be, did you transfer the title into your name when you bought the car? In Wis. the license plate purchase is a part of that title transfer application. The plates stay with the owner not the car, so you would have had to to apply for new plates in your name. You should be able to apply for collector plates without any problem but be aware that this isn't cheap. I believe it's about $160 up front - but then you never have to pay any annual fees after that. I would start by going to the Wis. Dept. of Trans. web site here: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers...itle/mv1-5.htm

Here in Ohio, the plates do not go with the car. We currently have them on two of our cars, and just to get them we had to:
1) Show $5,000 + invested (with copies of receipts) 2) Send 3-6 clear pictures 3) Send a letter of intent The cars cannot be driven daily. They are emissions-exempt, and the plates cost a little more. |
