Question Question about a crazy looking transmission

I few weeks ago I was surfing around on the internet It may have even been here that I saw the pic.

It showed this monster of a transmission being assembled. When it was all done. It was about two feet long and about 10 inches around. But the strangest thing about it was that It had a shift lever for each gear.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a pic or some info on this transmission. Purely out of curiosity.

Thanks.

Eric

Yeah that's it thanks man.

Its hard to describe this beast to someone. I was also wondering what sort of application it could be used for. Any car or is it for just certain things.

Thanks again

Eric

Pro Stock Trans of choice in the 80's,Replaced in the 90"s by the air shifted liberties. Still used in some of the alcohol classes and some top fuel, nostalgia etc, that are not running the direct drive? Been away awhile. You just stacked them together in any gear combo you wished. These things were pretty much bulletproof, although I think they fell out of favor for costing too much power to operate. Before anyone flames me I'm relaying the talk of the time to the younger generation here who may not of heard of these, as the above example. Today the direct drive (in top fuel etc.) is so popular as I understand because everthing is being done with the clutches, controlling the amount of slip and engagement stages. Your wallet had better be bullet proof also! I hear that has "NOT" changed
