A question about EDP on new body panels

I'm about $150 away from getting a steel Goodmark cowl induction hood. I know they're coated at the factory with EDP. What I'm wondering is, it'll be a while before I can get the El Camino painted. Should I sand and prime the hood, or just leave it black? I really don't care what it looks like for now, I just don't want to set up any rust on the hood before it's painted.

If I can just leave it black EDP, how long would you suggest I have before I'd better think about getting it painted? I have some other dents, dings, and a tailgate to fix, so this is going to be done piecemeal. Should I just wait on the hood and focus on getting the other stuff done, and get the hood last, or does it really matter?

Keep in mind I'm in a very dry desert environment, so we don't get a lot of rain. Snow in the winter is another thing entirely...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The EPD would stand up to the sun, If you're going to drive it hit it with some epoxy primer.

If it is going to sit in the sun don't leave it in epoxy. There is NO UV protection in the epoxy, it will chalk pronto.
