Question about exhaust on 06 silverado.
I may be in the wrong place for this but maybe there is someone here that can answer my question.
I have a 2006 regular cab 2wd 1500 Silverado, 5.3 V8. I currently have a strait pipe running from the cats back to a Y pipe then turned down. The thing I don’t like about it is its not loud enough and deep enough at idle, or any time really. I want as loud and deep of a tone as I can get. I’ve heard other trucks around this model that you can feel the deep rumble in your chest, and mine doesn’t have that. I want to turn it into true duals and I want to put mufflers on to get the tone that I like, but if I do that I’m afraid it will make it too quiet.
Here is my question. If I take the cats off and run dual pipes would this help about the overall sound volume? And is it possible to take the cats off of this model of truck? I have heard that if you take them off it will take the O2 sensors out and mess everything up. Is there a way around this?
Thanks,
Larry.
