Question about GM 'A' body mid 60's cars

I just bought a 65 Buick Special. I will eventually be looking for some parts, so I started doing some research regarding similar GM body styles for that year. I found out it's an 'A' body car, along with the Chevelle, Tempest, GTO, Cutlass and Skylark (obviously).
But I'm confused about this: The 64/65 Buick Special/Skylark appear to have less in common with the same-year Chevelle, but more in common with the 66/67 Chevelle, for instance. Looking at the roofline, the door window shape, the convex rear window, and even the tail light area.
Am I mistaken about this? The reason I want to get this straightened out is because if I do start looking at other makes for donor parts, I'd like to know what year to be looking for.

A body parts interchange

The other A bodys will not interchange out of the series years '64-'65, the body lines will not match, you have to use only 64 and 65 Buick Skylark or Special, other A body suspension and drive train will bolt up, engine trannys, BOP but not chevy they have there own bellhousing bolt pattern, you'll need to get the frame and motor mounts for the engine you want to use, I have a 350 Chev in my Special with a 700R4 tranny, if you have any other questions give me a shout...

All 64-65 "hard parts" (glass, door hinges and latches, steering column, stuff like that ) will interchange. All seats and the like will swap, but not look the same.

All suspension components will swap from 64-72, that's right, 72 Olds Cutless disc brakes will bolt right on your 65 Skylark. Other than the chassis stuff all 64-65 stuff interchange, 66-67, 68-69 and 70-72 interchange.

Buick had a unique bell housing pattern so only a small Buick (300-340-215 and the odd fire V-6) will bolt up the tranny. I put a TH350 from a 79 Malibu with a "dual pattern" (Buick Olds Pontiac and Chevy) in my 65 Skylark, bolted right in. But if you want the 401-425 motor you need a 401-425 tranny, I have a 65 Gran Sport as well.

So all "options" like power windows, seats, tilt column all that stuff will interchange among ALL 64-65 A bodies.

Not quite. First, the 215 and the 198 cu in version of the V6 used in 1961-63 had a unique bellhousing pattern that is not shared with any other engine. Ironically, Rover kept this pattern when they started producing the 215 and retained it through the end of production in 2006.

All the 1964-up small block Buick V8s and V6s used the BOP pattern. The Nailheads used the unique round bellhousing pattern. There's a very rare TH400 case with this pattern, used only in the 1965 cars, I believe.
