Question about guideplates

I've been looking at getting some comp magnum rocker arms (not the full roller pro magnum ones) and noticed that for my 74 351W it says not for use with guideplates

i know what guideplates do, but why would you not be able to use certain rockers with them? Also what would my limit be as far as building the motor without using guideplates? a certain cam lift or spring pressure or what?

thanks guys

Are those the rockers that have the guide at the roller tip end ?
It looks like a flat washer on ether side of the roller, no guide plates required with that design.
