My question is kind of hard to explain. On a bbc intake there are 16 bolts total there are 6 along the bottom and 2 higher up on each side if that makes any sense? so there are 4 that sit higher up kind of at the corners of the carb. They bolt right above and inbetween the intake ports, my question is do i need to use them because the heads i got dont have the holes drilled or tapped, and i looked at a pic of a dart bbc head and they also do not have these holes drilled. If you dont use them then would i just torque the intake down skipping them? I hope this makes sense heh.

Ummmm, I have only ever seen 6 bolts per side on any big block chevy, if you put bolts in the holes seen here you should be good to go, what heads and intake are you using? That might clear up some of the confusion.

I am using edelbrock rpm air gap rect port. it has 16 bolt holes, and in my chevy book for tq specs it shows them also, the weird thing is im looking in my jegs magazine and the pic doesnt show them on there heh. I know that a sbc doesnt have them only the bbc. I am using procomp heads btw.

the bottom pic for that linkk is the bbc tq sequence, #'s 10,11,5,16 are the ones im talking about.

Hmmmm that is strange, I would say if your heads, dont have the bolt holes then you do not have to use them, However, you may want to call edelbrock just to be sure, maybe they sell two different types, one for heads with the bolt holes, and one without. You definately don't want to have to drill and tap your heads, that is for sure!!! I can't see how it would cause a problem to leave them out. as long as both intake surfaces are flat.

well it is aluminum so it would be pretty easy to drill and tap these holes, they do not go into any water or oil and i can make blind holes.
