Question for Crosley, the trans. man

Hey Crosley,

I have a 700r4 behind a warmed up 350 in my 66 Elcamino running 373 gears.

It has all the latest mods, and will cherp the tires in every gear.
Everything checks out good.

The only thing that I don't like is the 1st to 2nd shift, It shifts at 4 mph. all the other shift points are perfect.

What do I need to do to raise the 1st to 2nd shift point?

I have a governor weight kit, should I experiment with it or change the governor?

I would like to get a shift at around 10 mph.

Thanks;
Troy

Cool

in the gov of the 700R4 /4L60 there are 2 springs. A stiff one and the other is quite a bit softer.

The stiff spring is the one to adress for later 1-2 shift at mininum throttle.

A softer spring will allow a later shift.

At low speeds the springs have a greater effect on shift points. The weights affect more at speeds over 30-35 mph, depending on gear ratio of the diff.

TC, I'm interest in what you find. My tranny seems to do the same as yours. I changed the gov springs to the lightest ones but still get the early shift. I am running a 1200 stall converter and would like the later shift for the big jump between first and second.
