Your solution is the best and cheapest alternative, but........a lot of people can't rip the aluminum, and Clayton Machine Works doesn't even offer a simple straight piece of rounded trim like you are making. As far as I know, there is no supplier that does, and I have looked everywhere.

No one lives forever, the trick is creating something that will.
