Question on SBC mini starter bolt pattern

Hello guys I am going to replace my big regular size torque starter in my 350 engine soon with a mini gear drive starter so I have more clearance for my exhaust but I have read the issues with the outer ear part of where the outer starter bolt goes onto the top part of the block breaking off and the starter has to be retightend all the time and can cause issues.

I know about the brakcets GM put on the factory style starters to help keep this from happening but they don't work on mini style starters and I need to get one for extra clearance. Ok I can use a side by side bolt mount or a staggerd mount bolt pattern. Out of the two wich would not pull as much on the starter so I can reduce the chance of this happening?

Either works providing the bolts fit right and are torqued down w/loctite. A front brace would help, but most damage seems to happen due to timing issues that cause the engine to kick back or bolts that are the wrong ones and don't fit the nose snugly or are worn at the knurling.

I would use the side by side style, if for no other reason that these are available w/holes to fit either the 153T or 168T flex/flywheel. The offset type is for the 168 only- at least on all of them I've seen.

Don't get the cheap Chinese mini starters from Auto Zombie, spring for a quality one like Powermaster, you will not be dissapointed.
