Question on swapping or not?
ok i have a 1968 chevy pickup with a 78 monte carlo 305 carbed with a cracked block. I found a 1989 camaro 305 Throttle body injectection
for $75 can i take the intake and carb off my 78 to fit the 89 or do i need to do something different.or could i make my old truck tbi and how do i go about doing it.Any help or comments would be much appreciated. I have about 900 bucks to spend......... thanks broc2451 |

The intake from the earlier block will swap right on, but you`ll have to slot the 4 center bolt holes to line up with the 89`s heads since the angle was changed in 1987, a machine shop can do this for you rather easy. To keep the TBI means you`ll have to run a electric fuel pump with the correct pressure, plumb a fuel return line to the tank, get the computer and harness from the camaro donor, as well as run oxygen sensors, etc. the carb swap would be much cheaper.
