A quick question??

I converted my 69 pontiac points sysem to HEI, which I pulled from a ventura. there were no wires to show anything. Where is the no. 1 tower on the distributor cap??

As looking from the front of it the elongated rectangle shaped bump on top should be running from left to right and almost straight across (sometimes at a little angle...) Anyhow the very front 2 terminals are number 1 on the right and number 8 on the left side... Rotation is clockwise so its 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

If correctly installed with the balancer on TDC (on the compression stroke) the rotor pointer should be almost pointing at number 1 cyl...

By elongated bump do you mean the coil??
