quick question on a couger
i have a 85 couger with a 5.0 that im useing as a parts car for my mustang. does it have a 8.8 rear end? that is pretty much all i need to know. if you know the gears in it that would be nice but most likely changing those anyways ty.

Should be a 7.5" rear end. Look at the cover plate. If the top & bottom are flat, and the sides are curved, it's a 7.5". The 8.8" has 4 flat sides. It also may be wider than a Mustang rear end. Early '85 Cougars & T-birds used a Mustang-width housing, but longer axles and offset brake drums. In mid-'85, they went to a rear end with a wider housing & flat-sided drums. It probably has 2.73 gears if it's the original.
