Quick question on scuffing metallic base before re-shoot

Shot base yesterday and am past my 7 hr window. Need to scuff up the base. The base is metallic. I'm wondering if I need to use pads ( if so what kind ) or if I can use 800 grit on a DA.

Thanks

a red scotch brite scuff pad would be fine.when you hit a piece of trash just nib it down with dry 400 wet sand paper...takes about 30 min...depending on the brand of paint it'll take two to three more coats...

Unless you are two or three days past your window, you can still shoot on top of the base.

The manufacturer is just covering their ***** with the 7 hour window.

Painting custom paint jobs, we sometimes go three days with graphics and trim before we shoot the final coats of clear. Never had a problem yet.

What basecoat has only a 7 hr window? Most I've seen normally range somewhere from 24-72 hrs.
