Will, single stage Urethane reducer/activator work for a 2 stage urethane base coat?

The reason I'm asking is because someone told me it won't work. However, when looking up the different product information on TCP's site. The single stage reducer, is the same part number as the 2 stage stuff. I have a qt of single stage left over from another job "different brand", but would like to use it up on this 2 stage paint job I'm doing. I'm not to keen on mixing brands but if it works, then that's all I care about.

You really don't need an activator in the base coat. And yes the SS activator will work in the clear and the base.

Some base coats can use an activator, what products are you using?

IMHO is is never a good idea to mix brands. Chemists and paint companies spend tons of research to get their products to work well toghether.

I'm using a Urethane Base coat from TCP. The label calls for a mix of 2.1 with the reducer. Their products use the same reducer for the single stages and 2 stage products. I had some medium reducer "Urethane" left over from some other brand I had and I just wasn't sure. I'll test shoot a panel just to make sure nothing funky happens, but I figure if I keep it all urethane I should be ok. It's for my beater Jeep so I'm not being to anal about it. Thanks guys!
