Quick TBI question

could the distributor have anything to do with the fuel injectors not firing?

well the engine is turning over it just wont spray gas, but when we took the coil wire off the coil and stuck a screwdriver and stuck it in there and grounded it it only sparked like twice and thats it, its on a 1991 camaro rs but we just dropped a 350 in it and it just wont fire up bc of an apparent fuel or spark problem...

well we noticed that the top of the coil had a few chunks knocked out of it, but did getting a new module and coil fix the problem?
