i order all my spi stuff from www.bakerpbe.com. the shipping is really reasonable. usually my order is about $1100 worth of clear and primer and catalyst and i think they get me for about $60 shipping for all of it. it gets shipped fedex freight. other than for warranty issues there is really no reason any shop should be paying for the premium brands. way back when i used to use dupont clear. the old 7500s. its definately nice stuff but i think it ran somewhere around $250 for a gallon and a quart of catalyst. the spi universal clear is every bit as good plus it has way higher solids and is $150 for 2 gallons of material. you do the math. the primers really kick *** too.

Wow I didn't notice what kind of race car you were talking about but anyway I painted my stock car with Tremclad. Sprayed it on with a reducer for enamel paint. I think it cost me about $35 for the gallon. Came out with a nice gloss and held up fine.
