rack and pinion
Has anybody cut the threaded ends on a rack and pinion? I am building a 51 chevy truck and installing a TCI front end. When I put the tie rods onto the end of the rack they are to long. I called TCI and they told me to cut the threaded ends. Has anybody cut the ends? When cutting the ends do you use a hack saw or does anybody have a better idea of how to cut them?

An air hand held abrasive cut off saw is much faster, with less sweat.

make sure you put a tap on or nut before you cut it off so you can tap the threading right after
|
