Rack and Pinion in a 57' ford

Seen a thread or two...but curious on if i should go power rack and pinion or power steering,it has none as of now :-P..Heard of cavalier conversions, how hard and expensive is this?

Could be quite inexpensive if you go the junk yard parts route or very expensive if you go the aftermarket parts route. Could be very simple if you have all the right tools and skills or virtually impossible if you are a novice car builder.

Not sure why you would want to go all the work to install a rack and pinion setup. The '57 had a pretty good recirculating ball steering box and a fairly straight forward front suspension. I've had two '57's, a convertible and a tudor without power steering and the steering effort wasn't bad, especially with the big diameter steering wheel.

Have 57 RW...installed GEARHEADS p/s box-JUNK.Did WURTH-IT RACK drives great!Did you see my swaybar tread?

Is it comparable to any newer ride? So i could maybe go find that vehicle and test drive it to see if that's what i'm looking for?
I know some newer vehicles have that rack and pinion stuff...so..IDK???
