rack and pinion steering
Hello Fellow hotrodders: I have a 50 chevy tk short bed. with a 350 sb, auto. ps. pw. pb. @ air. ps. rack is out of 81' chevy citation. I had to do a lot of modifing, to make it work on my "strait" axel. ( welded brackets to mount it on axel) My problem now it leaks where the shaft goes into the top of the rack
 Would I be better off buying a reman or try to replace the seal?  I kneed some input on what i'll run into trying to make these repairs  Coments, sugestions  as hotrodders BB is  Jim Dandy

It typically isn't hard to replace seals in rack and pinion steering units, but it can be challenging to get parts. I would look and see if the seal(s) you need are available, and then make your decision.

Have you driven the truck any distance ??
As a general rule ... the set up you describe drives VERY BADLY ... and the slip joint scares the H#^^ out of me.
