Rack and Pinion swap revisited

I am rethinking a rack and pinion swap on my car. It currently has a steering box. I have read and searched the topic on the forums and google. However one thing I have not seen is a list of track widths of various cars w/rack and pinion steering. Is there such a list? My car has a front track of 50 inches.

I also have a few questions:
My car is rear steer. Would I be better off retaining a rear steer configuration? Or could I swap the spindles left to right and use a front steer rack?

There is a company now making aftermarket " conversion rack and pinion " setups.

What type of car do you have ?

I have a 1970 datsun 510. I currently have a turbocharged 3.8 motor sitting in the engine bay. I'm trying to buy header and turbo manifold clearance.

I'm not aware of any datsun conversion kits. And believe custom is the only way to go at this time. My plan to keep cost down are to find a suitable donor rack and fabricate linkage to steering coloumn.

As soon as I can make way on this car. I can make room for the Fleetline.
