Radiator decision?

I need help on choosing a cooling system for my 454 thats going in my 67 chevelle. I have a three core factory radiator ,but a 4 core would probably be my better choice? Also has any body had any good experiences with the aftermarket aluminum radiators, and if so which ones? thanks

re: Radiator decision?

1967chevelle454, I am building a '57 Chevy pick'im up. I decided to go with a Jeg's generic radiator since it saved me 300 dollars compared to the direct bolt in option. This required me to fabricate a lower bracket which I made so it would bolt to the stock core support. Also, I made two backets for the top which just holds the radiator from pivoting inward. This is a link to a picture with the lower bracket - http://www.meyerbrosrods.com/photos...picture134.aspx

re: Radiator decision?

I use a griffin 4 core, have not had one bit of trouble with it. I have not seen the coolant temps go over 180. In fact, I believe it is the same size that the Chevelles use.

re: Radiator decision?

BeCool is what I use in an 8-71 blown car, came with all the brackets and direct fit for my '68 Nova. Like 41willys, I've never seen over 180 in traffic with dual SPAL pullers. Griffen is certainly a quality unit as well, plus, a good radiator shop could expand yours. Good aluminum radiators can be pricey.

re: Radiator decision?

I use a becool radiator for my built 350. It doesn't run quite as hot as a bigblock would but their radiators are well built. I lost 30* of temp before I added my jet-fan switch which turns the fans on at 185 instead of 210. I rarely go over 175*-180* now unless I'm running around town and it's over 100 degrees in traffic.
