radiator hose
ok heres the deal. i put my underdrive pulleys on, and this leaves all that slack in the belt, so i make a bracket to pull the alt outward. this ends up interfering with the radiator hose and i cant close the hood. here the question. i notice in magazines and stuff that these guys with superchargers, which would give a related problem with the hose, have hoses that go around the supercharger....does anyone know where i could get one??

I would think if the underdrive pulley`s are smaller it would require a smaller belt to make proper clearances and etc. I would have much rather bought a shorter belt than had to make a bracket.

i madea bracket cuz i had to get the car out of the shop because it was sunday and i had to go back to school tomorrow and wouldnt get to touch it til the next weekend...

Was the pulley you installed the crank pulley?/ Accessory pulleys?/ All pulleys? to under-drive you need a smaller crank pulley or larger accessory pulleys or a combination of the same. If you changed accessory pulleys and the belts is too long, those are over drive not under-drive. If you changed the crank pulley for an under-drive, that would result in your too-long belt problem. Regardless, car pool to work until you can get to the parts shop and get the proper length belt. Much cleaner than new bracketry.

take a piece of string and run it through all of the pulleys with the brackets set where it would make the belts loose...
measure the string and then go to the auto parts store and tell them that you need a belt that size... and get one that is 1 inch longer and one that is 2 inches longer... you can always take the ones back that don't fit.
that is what I had to do to get a belt for an aftermarker ac that was on my truck without a belt when I bought it.

See if a parts place will let you try a few belts in front of the store. The local Auto Zone let me try several on my Tbird until I figured out you can't bypass the A/C by short-belting.
