Did the tube connected to it lead to the trans? Most of the engine I have seen with auto trans use the rad. as a cooling system. Though there is a chance that you could have an aux. trans cooler. Aanyways... just trace the line back.

i didnt take time to trace it back.. im pulling the junk block out with the tranny so i can use the tranny on my 383 building... just thought about it maybe being the tranny cooler... cuz if i can use this as an tranny cooler then i wont have to worry about buying an auxillary one.. ill have to trace it back tomorrow

Bout the easiest thing I can think of. More then likely it is if the fluid was red then thats pretty much a given.

It is common to have a tranny cooler integrated into the radiator.
