Radio Locked Out??

Just changed the battery in my 99 Monte Carlo and of course it is now locked. Anti - Theft #$&*. Is there a code to unlock it, or am I doomed to visit the Goodwrench?

Yes !

Yes you are .

try Disconnecting the radio then reconnect while the battery is disconnected then re connect.

Or try Googling

It's locked out because power was removed so it thinks a thief took the radio out of the car. There's nothing you can do but punch in the code. Look in the owners manual pouch, sometimes there's a card with the code in there.

If not, you can call the dealer with the vin to get the code. Some dealers won't do it over the phone thinking maybe you stoled the radio.(you know, society) If so you'll just have to stop by the dealer with the car. Either way there should be no charge and it shouldn't take but 10 minute's for them to look it up.

Hope this helps.
Dave
