Plate

Aluminum is easy to work with, experiment with several finishes, polished, random orbit sanding, engine turning, lite bead blasting or last choice ,paint. Jerry

Although I haven't finished it yet & I'm no carpenter I made a simple face plate replacement for my wifes 71 skylark out of engineered flooring .

I did not want to cut up the original knob face plate to install a CD player

If you like I could snap a few pix & post them here.

I had a hack-job done by a previous owner on my dash, too.

I used masonite and covered it with leather -- you can see all that I did HERE

Hey, GothRod

I'm not sure what you're dealing with but I didn't need to use any screws on mine at all ... on my setup, the radio knobs hold the faceplate in place.

If I saw what you were installing, I might have a better idea of some possible solutions -- got any pictures?
