raised exhaust ports
Do you have to buy new headers to fit the raised ports on aftermarket bbc heads? I'm looking at stepping up from a performer to a performer rpm and a new set of heads for my Corvette. I've got 92cc iron heads 2.19/1.88; 427 .030 over block; factory forged rods; TRW L-2300F forged pistons; roller rockers; xe268/280 .515/.520 224/230@.50 110; built th400 w/ shift kit; 3.55 rear; hooker supercmp headers; demon 750 dp; pertronics HEI dist.; This is not a race car- it's just a cruiser, and parade car, but I like to burn rubber from time to time. If raised ports mean I have to change headers-forget it. Would Performer RPM 110cc oval parts be a good choice or is there something better? Feel free to comment and make suggestions on my combo. Thanks

merlin oval ports
I'm looking at the Merlin 269cc oval ports or the Edelbrock rpm heads. I know the rpms will hook right up to my headers, but I'm not sure about the Merlins. Something about a 1 inch raised port boss? Me no understand. If it means I have to pull the headers up 1 in- not good. I just don't want to make a mistake and find out when I'm trying to put it together. Which of these two heads with give me the most bang for my buck? Would the extra $ for aluminum be worth it? Also It's between the Edelbrock rpm and the merlin dual plane intakes. The Merlin intake claims 0-6000 rpm, but I can't find any real world experiences with it. Which manifold would be the best? Sorry for all these remedial type questions, but as you can see I'm basically a beginner. Thanks

bbc heads
Let's see if I can get down to the meat of the matter: for my setup, what would be the best bbc heads for low end seat of the pants grunt and good mid/upper range?
