OG GP Girlie

Brian,

The car looks great. I feel like the less you have going on with details like that, the more other aspects (like your motor) have a tendancy to stand out, especially to judges. So yeah, I think blackwalls would look cleaner with your paint.

black wall tires

Everyone is telling you to leave them or go to black walls. The truth is white walls were in style when that car was built. That's what I would be using. Black walls only surfaced because it is cheaper for car manufacturers. There is nothing stylish about black walls. In the 60s we could pinpoint unmarked police cars because they had the cheap black wall tires. So if you want to be cruisin' in a vintage police car, by all means run black walls.

Bracketeer-
Are you SERIOUS? Whitewalls on chrome wheels?

or

The old fart that I bought the car from, thought the whitewalls looked "right" on this car. I couldn't get them off fast enough. Wanna buy them?

Greetings! For me, less is more. The only whitewalls I like are the old style wide whites. Raised white letters look okay to me if you are going for a period correct look with the original maker on the tire. But I can`t stand some no-name CatTracPredatorSuperStockTracAction sorta stuff. It looks goofy. Free advice= what you pay for it

Originally we used chrome hubcaps with whitewalls. The 63 had optional spinners. Are you SERIOUS? Putting mag wheels on a piece of art. Your car will look like the Mona Lisa in a Walmart chrome frame!

Bracketeer-
I see your point with HUBCAPS. Even the Hubcaps with spinners. I agree with ya there. Whitewalls can dress up a "cruiser" like the Impalas. But when a Muscle Car stance is wanted, I don't think whitewalls are appropriate.
I just hate chrome wheels in general. Every time I see them, it reminds me of the $25.00 "wagonwheels" they sold in the 70's.

Wheel and tire combinations can completely change the look of the car. Look at American Racing Wheel's website. There are a TON of different cars that you can look at different wheel combinations on. You should see the difference with my Nova, from the Chrome-Steelies/Whitewalls to the RWL on Rally wheels. As soon as the Journals are back up, I'll post an updated pic of the Nova.

(Hope you didn't take offense, my earlier post wasn't meant to offend. After rereading it, it DOES look inflammitory. Sorry.)
