Ram Jet 502 Coil

Hi,
I was hoping someone can help me.

I'm building a 26 Cadillac with a 502 Ram Jet.

I'm wiring the car now, and need to mount the coil but don't know where to put it. I'm assuming it has to go on the firewall (right side just above the head?), but I don't think it will look too good there. Can the coil mount on the inside of the firewall in the car?

Also what is the max length from the coil to the distributor.

Thanks so much!

Thanks!

Why does the coil need to point up?

some coils have oil in the bottom. Some people blame coil failures on the coil being mounted upsidedown or other positions other than straight up.
Ive only had one coil failure that I can remember,a long time ago.
read the mounting instructions if using a quality after market coil.a lot of factory low performance coils are mounted close to horizontal

The Ramjet coil
1115491-Ramjet 502 $62
1115498-Ramjet 350-$68

Mount it anywhere you wish, t I think these are dry coils as they have a decent heatsink on them. Same coil as the Vortec truck, LT4 engines used with different connectors bracketry.

peace
Hog.
