Ratchet Shifter problems

I have a B&M quick silver ratchet shifter on my 69 GTO. hooked up to a th400 transmission. Well, when i put it in low, it doesn't hold it back, it just shifts on up without touching a thing. Any ideas on the root of this problem?

Sounds like it could be improper adjustment. Yours is on a cable isn't it? I have one in my 53 Chevy and I dispise the thing. It is Supposed to be made for racing abuse but mine is a pain, needs adjustment to keep it from poping up to the next gear. For the money they should be Great, NOT!

You should switch to a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter. I have one in my 1970 Nova and I love it to death. It's an all around good shifter.
