I need to know the gear ratio in the stock 55 powerglide rearend.

well...... a powerglides gear ratio is
1st - 1.82
2nd - 1.1

I found the answer in some of my old chev books, and the rear end is 3.55.1 with the powerglide.

Quite possible......many ratios were available. Lots of powerglides also used 3.36 rears too.

yep, poncho's got it. b4 1955, there was 2 gear ratio's 4.10's for 3spd manuals and 3.55's for the PG's, but in '55 when the V8 came out, many ratio's were available.

A stock '55 with powerglide would have got a 3:36, possibly a 3:55 rear end.

There was some change between '56 and '57 so it is possible the '55/56 got a 3:55 rear.

I know for a fact my '57 with original 283, powerglide has a 3:36 rear in it.
