rattle can paint to protect metal/filler

I just patched up a few rust spots and now have some bare metal and filler exposed. I will be out of town for a few months and need to protect it before I leave. I have some good quality spray paint from PaintScratch. Can I use this as a temporary cover coat? The truck will eventually be painted.

re: rattle can paint to protect metal/filler

what you might want to do is go to a local paint supply shop and get some rattle can 2k primer. this should seal every thing so you dont have to worry about it. mike

check with a body shop? see who they get it from, or maybe they'll let you buy some from them.
