Post REALITY CHECK

Well, it's nice to sit on here and bench race half the night away, and discuss horsepower of this and that, but come 6:00 A.M., I must walk into my shop, step over my 283 short block(which I would love to work on} and continue to tune up a 79 Chrysler Newport complete with plugged catalytic converter and improperly working "electric air cleaner" as I call it, some kind of lean burn system, that probably quit working around 1985. And, I would love to work on my cousin's 66 396 for his show car, but that's not a profit maker either, so until I strike oil in my back yard, it's another day of bleeding knuckles.

I don't think those lean burn systems worked correctly when they left the factory, probably one of the reasons Chrysler almost went belly up. In the cold winters here they were always giving us fits, I'm glad you got it working and from your location you probably don't have to worry about the overnight freezes.

There was one of those lean burn things on my '78 440. That was the first thing I did (okay the only thing I've done so far ) when I popped the hood.
