a 347 is a stroked 302, look at the crank, and the rod length to be sure...............

Since it's a shortblock you should be able to take a tape measure and get a reading from the cylinder deck to the top of the piston on a cylinder that is fully at the bottom. A little crude but accurate enough to determine if it's stroked.

so take a cylinder at its lowest point and measure to the top of the deck. ok i can do that but what kind of measurement should I get. what is a measurement range that i would have to be in so that i know it is a true stroker motor?? thanks

Stock stroke is 3.00" and the 347 is about 3.4 (without looking it up), so if you get anywhere around that you've got the real deal.

a 302 will have a 3 inch stroke, and 347 would have a 3.4 inch stroke...so about 3 and a half inches is what you should get.
