Rear Axle decode
Could some one please decode this rear end for me please.
I know its a Chevy 10 bolt 8.2 ring gear. I want to know what this thing came out of. PBA0507G2 Thats t eh stamp I found on the front passengers side axle tube. Thanks.

PBA = Ratio () 05 = Month (May) 07 = Day of month (07th) G = Plant (Detroit Gear & Axle) 2 = shift (second shift) I currently have no information on the gear ratio code as I would need a little bit more information. If you know the year, that will help. Post ALL the numbers on your axle for more difinitive help. If you know what model car, that will help. If not, is it mounted with leaf or coil springs. The following is for Camaro. 1967 PB ratio = 3.36 1968 PB ratio = 3.31 1969 PB ratio = 2.56 I have found nothing so far for the PBA ratio code you posted.
